# Atlas Overview

> Atlas runs deep investigations: research agents build a persistent workspace and attribution graph on a subject, then write a report you can share.

Atlas is Sixtyfour's deep investigation product. Give it a subject and a team of research agents builds a workspace of notes and an attribution graph that links every finding to its source, then writes a report you can read, share and export. The investigation stays yours to continue later. Use it for diligence, background research and any subject where a single enrichment answer isn't enough.

## How an investigation works

Each run researches until its credit budget, its time limit or, when it may stop early, its answers are complete. When a run completes, Atlas writes the report. Findings and files stay on the investigation, so a later run builds on them instead of starting over.

## Concepts

| Term | What it is |
| - | - |
| Investigation | The persistent record of research on one subject: its workspace, graph, reports and runs. |
| Run | One pass of research into an investigation. An investigation can have many. |
| Engine | The model and research team behind a run: XHigh or Scout. |
| Budget | How much research a run may buy, in units of the engine's price, from one to ten. |
| Workspace | The notes the agents write, and the images and documents they save. |
| Finding | One fact in the graph, with the source URLs it came from. |
| Attribution graph | Findings and the confidence-weighted links between them, which show how each one was reached. |
| Report | A PDF intelligence report written from the workspace. |

## Engines

## Atlas and the `xhigh` tier

The `xhigh` tier of People Intelligence is a structured version of Atlas. It runs the same agents and creates the same investigation, then returns the fields you asked for in `structured_data`. Either way you can open the investigation in the app, read its graph, get its report and continue it later.
